Subject: | FLASH: how much is drawn? |

Hi Everyone!
I love Flash, and am trying to find a way at the moment to earn some money
(difficult because there is virtually no work where I live, and I only want
to to work part-time, because I'm still at college :) and I was wondering
about the possibility of people paying me to design Flash things for them.
I have a slight problem tho, that I'm absolutely terrible at drawing (I'm
bad with a
pen or pencil, although somehow slightly better with a mouse). Anyway,
somehow with Flash, I managed to create the logo
(which doesn't involve any drawing on my part, apart from the triangles and
stuff - it
was my first Flash thing) and my main map at http://www.siteria.net . Oh and
I also did the main animation thing on the first page of
http://www.companywidegroup.com (for a relative).
As you can see form those (if you looked) theres hardly any drawing done on
my behalf....
and I was looking at http://www.chrismoyles.co.uk (only some UK people will
know who he is, probly) and the artwork involved in that must have been
quite a lot (the picture of Chris).
So what I wanna know, is - how much of the artwork in your designs is
actually hand drawn by you, with a stylus and tablet or whatever?
Is it a large amount, or do you expect most of the artwork to come from the
client that wants it?
I had a go with Nichimen Nendo ( http://www.nichimen.com ) at drawing
something and I guess it wasn't that difficult to use, and the results were
ok, so do you all use brilliant software packages?
I'd love to use Nendo, but I am starting this with zero money, so even the
tiny $99 for that package is kinda outta the question for the moment.
Thanks in advance for all your answers, and can you PLEASE reply off-list to
parkibaldsiteria [dot] net because I am only checking that account at the
moment - with a mobile -, due to connection problems (parents won't let me
connect!) and the normal address that is subscribed to this list gets
checked once-a-week, if I'm lucky.
Oh, and I'd love to say I'm great at actionscripting, or ASP, or DHTML or
something, but unfortunately not. On the same subject, when is that book
coming out that is entirely about actionscript?
It was mentioned on here a while ago, and I think it's written by someone on
the list - I'd love to learn it.
Ben
