Subject: FLASH: Flash, IE and Environemnt Variables
From: Jason White

Greetings,

I've been working on Flash <-> CGI scripts. One of the things we do
with some of our scripts includes security checks. I check the
environment variables (using Perl, so %ENV) as part of that check.
When testing using IE recently, I realized that it does not send all
of the environment variables and especially that it doesn't pass the
HTTP_REFERER ($IN{'HTTP_REFERER'}). While it doesn't surprise me that
a Microsoft product wouldn't adhere to HTTP standards (I assume this
is due to Active X controls instead of an actual plug-in being used),
has anyone else dealt with this or know of a way to find out the
HTTP_REFERER or of a resource to help out?

Thanks,

Jason
