I agree....
This is an odd request and i normally
wouldn't concern myself with it.
But there is an unusual situation that has arised
and i'll need to figure something out.

My question is why would you want it to work, but here is an idea.
you could make a movie clip that resembles the over stage of your button.
now set the action of your button to
on ( drag over)
tell target (your mc instance name)
play
just an idea
