It needs to be a symbol to use the alpha setting, but you don't need to
break apart the text. To make text get bigger then fade away at the 2nd
keyframe increase the scale and take the alpha to zero. Next make a motion
tween and the text will grow and fade out.

What is the best way (technique) to fade text ? Say
for example I wanted a piece of text to get bigger and
bigger and then eventually slowly fade away. Do I
convert the text to be a symbol ? Any help would be appreciated.
