Try reading Macromedia's tech notes, i found this in about 2 seconds
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/action_scripts/objects/movieclip
hittest.html . Also, try the custom button fla available at
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/redcolourproject/ . I know he uses
the hit test on an irregular shape for this demo.
