I think one of the difficulties is when the message the autoresponder sends
is exactly what the visitor was given on the site prior to sending the
e-mail. I really bugs me when I'm sent a page of material that I've already
read.
There is also the issue of response times. Altavista.com's responders says
that they will respond in a timely fashion. It's been 3 months...
I also ran an autoresponder on Chopstix for a while... but I started to get
reports of people being sent 10 e-mails even though it wasn't meant to do
that... so killed it.
