PSI and Cisco can hardly be called "Web companies" can they?? IMHO I think

they have a little more going for them than that...


I used to work for PSI, (Yes, in sales but it was a long time ago, you must

forgive.. :)) and the worst thing about trying to prospect people, aside

from them thinking their ISP was Netscape! (Before netscape did anything but

browsers) Was the response: "PSI Who?" Imagine all the IT managers, IT

decision makers, start-up .com owners etc etc, who are considering their

next IP provider, sitting there watching the football, PSINet is up there

with household names like Carlsberg, McDonalds, JVC, Coca Cola even! Guilty

by association..


I think the value in them being there is huge. Good job to the guy who did

that deal! He knows who he is..

People have been talking a lot about the difficulties web companies have in

dealing with advertising. When watching the starting game of Euro 2000 I

couldn't help notice the bilboards with PSI splashed over them, and the

almost constant reference to Cisco systems. Combined with Cisco's recent

spate of TV advertising it seems a little odd that these companies are

taking up tradtionally BtoC space.


I can see that there is value in these companies getting there names

recognised, but am a little worried they my be putting in bids for world

domination?
