Hiya Troy,

I dont know who else would agree, but Ive always seen Dir as a tool for
CD-authoring and not much else.
CD interactive production is a uge bus, but using Dir for Web design is like
watching an elephant give birth.

Dont get me wrong Dir is more powerful than Flash3 in certain areas due to
scripting and behaviors, but
the only real attention its gotten from big business online is for online
games. And thats very little. Only other takers are interactive designers. Is
it sellin' on the web? Nah. Sorry to say, even most of those arent worth the
download. Plus with more and more PC software games sold for use with
LAN(internet) connection, attention to Dir internet games is even less on
gamer's agenda.

Flash OTOH with its streaming capabilities and vector format is extremely fast
compared to anything today
for high end web authoring. When your talking 56k which isnt really 56k, Flash
delivers. It is a was intended for
web site creation

Dir will start to play a role in web design when everyone has fibre optic and
internet is running water.
Until then I wouldnt touch it for anything other than CD or kiosk design.

Right now Flash can give "CD-rom like" atmosphere for web sites. That is the
only reason its on my HD.

My problem was there is not enough discussion on how a professional designer
can sell it's service. No FAQs
or info in this area that ive found, just hype.

Of course all the above is my 2,

-DG-
