I cannot think of any possible meaning of the word 'good' as in 'good
creative' that includes putting personal preference above quality. Art
is the thing where personal vision is tantamount - design, on the
other hand, is in service of function as well - a visually striking
chair which is not comfortable is a failed chair.
Good designers know how to make things which are good looking _and_
easy to use. Anyone who puts desire for a portfolio piece in the queue
ahead of this imperative should be fired at once.
