you could try selling your content to a syndication agency ala: isyndicate
or screamingmedia but your stuff needs to be top stuff as they in turn aim
to sell it on to others... and with tons of competition out there your
content needs to be so hot that it burns all your competitors...
but a far better solution, especially for smaller sites is to offer your
content to others to take in a shorter form, so it is a case of "try before
you buy", you've already written it for your core prospect (ie: your own
site), further distribution above this is a bonus and if it is free, then
people are likely to use it.
be also aware that some content providers will pay for distribution, so if
you are up against a rival and they are offering some form of renumeration
to take their content, then people are likely to opt for them as opposed to
yourself.
the key thing and best strategy is to make sure your content is worthy of
distribution and there is a market for it and then give a condensed version
of what you offer to anyone who wants it in return for a "powered by" type
button.

Subject: UKNM: who buys words?
Hi all
I co-run an online-only magazine site that's built steadily for the past 12
months or so. The publishing biz isnt my main area of expertise so I'm
looking for some help..
The site features mostly localised content (ie UK regional) but generally
above-average features and reviews of music, film, theatre, etc, produced
by a mix of journos and wannabe journos on a data-driven site that's about
to be xml-enabled.
Anyway, we've got stories coming out of our ears and we reckon we could be
re-selling the content.
I have some ideas and contacts, and have found things like www.uclick.com,
but can anyone tell me:
a) is this a realistic plan?
b) if so, who to approacch, on what basis, etc
on-list for general advice - off-list for further details
thanks
mark
