Flash4 does not import those formats. You can import PCM Wav (for PC) or
AIFF (Mac).

Sometimes your sound card can send a midi file right into recording
software while it's playing. Or try MidiNight Express at www.polyhedric.com
for a midi-to-wav conversion program (free or shareware or demo, I forget
which).

If you want to keep the compactness of the midi file, don't use the sound
in Flash, make it play from its own html page. Put the Flash file in one
frame of a frameset (the frame can be set to 100% height, so that the other
frame is invisible). Then in the Flash movie use a Get URL action to load
the midi-hosting page into the invisible frame. To stop the midi, use Get
URL to load an empty or non-midi page into that other frame.

Very cool. I'd love to see what you're producing -- got a URL?
