Subject: FLASH: Flash bitmap overhead question...
From: J. Lutes (pixelTwiddler)

Group,

I have recently had someone send me a question that I couldn't answer (or
at least fake an answer to <grin>).

Here it is as I cut it from my e-mail:

1. I have imported about 1.2megs worth of jpgs into a symbol.
After export
the swf is approx. 6.6megs. What is going on here? I have played
with the compression
in Flash and played with compression of the images before they go
into Flash and jpg
is as small as I can get them. What is Flash doing to generate such
a large file?
Is there something I am missing? There is nothing else in this swf,
just those images.
The symbol is a Movie Clip and the swf is being called by another
swf.

I asked him for a few more details about his project, but I am waiting to
find those out. Does anyone know what causes this size disparity?

Thanks.
