Virgin.com was closed over the New Year because of security/Y2K jitters.

Also the Virgin Mobile call centre was closed over New Year. The site

was supposed to reappear around lunchtime on NYD, but was late because

of an administrative mistake. 


The advertising was part of a much longer campaign, and it's very

difficult to take down the posters for 24 hours, or cancel a long

running campaign in the newspapers. 


One of my New Year's Resolutions is to be more polite, so I won't

mention that nobody complains when there are adverts on TV for shops

that are closed. 


I also assumed that most people would have better things to do at that

time that browse the web, like observing the sabbath ;)
