Kieth

A very thorough and candid email. I'll assume that an equally candid
response is acceptable.

1. Why are UK companies expected top pay nearly 7 times the price of US
companies ?

No UK company is expected to pay us anything. If a merchant prefers to
invest the time and resource a DIY solution such as CJ demands from a
merchant, Fine, and CJ is indeed a great choice. I've been working with them
for 2 years.

However, a merchant will be expected to pay us if they prefer to concentrate
on their core business activities and oursource the creation and management
of an affiliate program to ukaffiliates.com.

I'm confident that your own research has shown you that a DIY solution
requires at least one member of staff working on it full time. Recruiting
affiliates, validating applications, training them, motivating them,
managing their payments. The list of activities is endless and each has a
price. A merchant starting from scratch can expect a successful affiliate
program to cost 25k to setup exclusing staff costs.

2. Why cannot potential advertisers see the list of potential affiliates?

I've spent a great deal of time and money building up and training our
network of affiliates. Under no circumstances would we make public the
details of our most valuable resource. Aside from the issues presented by
the Data Protection Act regarding third party information, there's little we
could do to stop the list from being approached directly by the merchant
should they make a decision to use a competitor or invest in creating their
in-house affiliate program.

3. Why don`t you answer your messages?

I'll not waste your time with lame excuses. Crap internal communication and
bad time management on my part is to blame. I'm writing this at xxam sat in
a Hotel room in Burbank, Los Angeles. Proof indeed that I could do with some
pointers on how to arrange my time more efficiently. I suspect I'll return
to my desk to see you messages stacked in front of desk top.

Your observations have been forwarded to everyone in the company and the
whole team will work be working to improve the situation, quicker than you
can say "nice tan Fox, now go to bed"!

Regards - Fox Tucker

Subject: UKNM: Fulfilment hell

Hi all,
you may have noticed recently that at the bottom of all postings into
this list there is an ad for ukaffiliates, so the following may be "biting
the hand that feeds us" but so be it.

I recently contacted this company as I am shortly to launch my companies
.co.uk website. I am positively sources different marketing outlets. To this
end I emailed ukaffiliates and recieved a quick response, followed by a
visit from a young man called Stephen. he was veery pleasant, well presented
and had clearly been well trained. He delivered his "pitch" very
competantly, and as someone who has spent most of my time training people
how to sell, I recognised most of the signals. I am not adverse to people
trying to sell me things I just view it as pointless, if I want to buy
something ,I buy it, if I don`t, I won`t.I am however always wary when the
price is held back as if it is something to be worried about. When I was
told the price ( just shy of 3000 )for the basic service, I was very
shocked. I just could not figure out what I was paying for. As an affiliates
company they recieve a % of each and every transaction. I recieved some
extra inducements to "sugar the pill" which included exposure to "our US
partners",Commission junction.

I was told that ukaffiliates had 10,000 such affiliates all waiting with
bated breath for the right products which would then be matched etc, etc.
Great I said, "can I see the list of affiliates ?" This seemed like a
reasonable request to me, apparently not, I would need his bosses
authorisation for this. So we left it that his boss would be in touch.

In the meantime I decided to have a look at Commission Junction for myself.
They offered a very similar deal with demonstable affiliates for $795, a big
difference, for a lot more, so far as I could see.
Anyway being a patriotic sort I decided I would offer ukaffiliates my
business if they matched the US offer. I contacted Stephen from UKA who told
me his boss would like to see me. A meeting was arranged.Unfortunately I was
delayed back from a trip from Sweden but I did send an email to Stephen
asking hoim to reset the meeting for later in the week.

I was not contacted, so I called again and I was told that the director,
someone called Fox would call me back. He didn`t and unbelievably I called
again, Fox was still very busy apparently and 1 week later has still not
managed to call back. I get very, very pissed off when people do not return
emails or phone calls, particually when I am trying to give them money.

So to conclude I have some questions for Fox of Uk affiliates;
1. Why are UK companies expected top pay nearly 7 times the price of US
companies ?
2. Why cannot potential advertisers see the list of potential affiliates?
3. Why don`t you answer your messages?

Maybe I am missing something here but if you decide to sponsor a list such
as UKNM then presumably you see the members as a good source for business, I
am very puzzled by your actions.
