Darren , many are calling this phase of internet business development the "

new reality " . Actually it is a very old reality called running a business

to make a profit or at least possess a realistic business plan to deliver

revenue streams , which will turn a profit within the midterm .

There are a host of sites who have been given rotten advise by investors ,

forced into an IPO situation which cannot now happen or worse invested

fortunes in marketing without actually getting the fundamentals of customer

acquisition /retention and ROI sorted out at the onset .

If the new economy can follow the most basic principles of successful

businesses ( how about knowing your customers , giving them exactly what

they want ,when they want it and communicating clearly to them , as three

basic principles ) then we all have a very good chance of thriving together

.
