what would be good is if site XYZ who uses DHL or Fed Ex who whoever to
inform the customer that a handling charge may be imposed for the courier
company to pay the tax on your behalf.

I can understand a small handling charge of say 5% but often when you buy
CDs which come to tyhe value of �20 ort �30 pounds, DHL will slap on an
extra �10 or more to pay the import tax on your behalf.

Or even better, the e-commerce sites should use couriers who don't charge a
handling fee.

They say if tyhey didn't pay the tax on your behalf, the goods would take
longer to arrive so hence they pay it. But please, don't put the handling
charge the courier company imposes hidden away...
