PR Communications Consultant, Helsinki (graduate) Based in Helsinki, Finland, we are a communications and public relations consultancy that operates in the grey area between communications and advertising. We challenge traditional communications methods by using non-paid channels and tools such as word of mouth, social media and influencer marketing. The fastest growing communications consultancy in Finland, we work with some of Finland's largest companies and the most prestigious global brands. We serves 50% of the top 30 companies in Finland. We are offering a truly exceptional opportunity for a graduate (ideally with some intern experience working for a UK media/communications agency) to work for a pioneering, internationally operating and well funded communications agency which has extremely good growth potential. We operate at the cutting edge of the changing media landscape and challenges the traditional way of doing business in marketing and communications. We are interested in creatively driven individuals whom are well versed in online social media and would be interested in the challenge of furthering our international growth. The successful candidate will work alongside the CEO in our Helsinki office. History: Founded in 2001, The client is an independent Finnish communications consultancy that currently employs 40 communications professionals. International Activities: We operate in Finland and internationally through our partner network, working with a global network of agencies in the Nordic Countries, Central Europe and Asia. We focus on designing, planning and executing communications projects for clients across all areas including corporate communications, marketing PR, public affairs and digital- and media communications services. We divide the communications field into paid, owned and non-paid communications channels. Paid communications channels refer to traditional advertising, whereas own channels include a company’s personnel, website or internal publications. Examples of non-paid channels are word-of-mouth, social media, opinion leaders, and media influencers. Non-paid communications: In planning communications projects, We focus on the efficient use of the non-paid channels mentioned above. We communicate the client’s news through the channels in which different target groups meet and communicate, for example via internet communities, text messaging, seminars, relevant media, opinion leaders and events. Today many companies still spend the majority of their marketing budgets on traditional paid advertising. This means that non-paid channels and the companies’ own communications channels are not effectively harnessed. Integrating own and non-paid channels into the company’s marketing approach results in a communications package that is more interesting, diverse, and closer to the consumer. We operate in various areas of communications by consulting on strategic communications planning; handling day-to-day press relations and organizing targeted events for consumers and interest groups. We strive to employ companies’ own and nonpaid communications channels at all levels. Is your growth as a designer currently being limited by the type of client, size of budget, or the short time frames you're being asked to work under? Do your clients or colleagues not really get the web? Then we may have the job for you. We're looking for a world-class interface designer to join Clearleft's team of internationally-renowned experts. Our ideal candidate would have an obvious love of design and a real passion for visual problem solving. You will be someone who can draw inspiration from a wide range of sources (not just the web) to create a variety of powerful design concepts. With the direction set you'll be able to develop these concepts into stunning interfaces that are easy and engaging to use. You'll need to be as happy working with pen and paper as on the Mac (extra credit for carrying a sketchbook), love typography, grid-based design and have an incredible attention to detail. You should also be able to interpret complex briefs and effectively communicate your design decisions to clients, colleagues and peers alike - be that in a meeting or in the pub over a frosty beverage! Like all good designers, you'll need an innate understanding of the medium. And whilst we're not looking for another web standards guru (we have a few of those already) you will need to have a thorough understanding of XHTML/CSS and be comfortable building complicated CSS layouts. Most importantly, you'll love what you do and constantly want to do it better. In return for your experience and enthusiasm we'll provide you with a supportive and highly creative environment, and the chance to work with some of the best-known and most talented designers, developers and UX people in the industry. You'll work on high profile projects for the likes of Channel 4, Mozilla and NBC Universal to name just a few. As a small company we believe that your happiness matters, so we've put together a great package. We'll give you flexible working hours and the ability to work from home when you want. To help keep you flexible, we'll give you a company MacBook and a training budget of £1,000 to make sure you're up-to-date. So if you've always wanted to go to SXSW but could never afford it, now you can. We run team training days (like sketching and letterpress printing) and company days out (like photography classes and trips to the Design Museum). All this along with our monthly movie nights, beach BBQs and occasional (optional) karaoke sessions, makes working at Clearleft fun. If you think you have what it takes to join our team, drop us your CV, a link to your portfolio and a covering letter explaining why you'd be perfect for this job. We look forward to hearing from you. Please submit all applications to info@clearleft.com by 20th August 2010.
