Chinwag is on the hunt for a new member of our events team. Interested or know someone who might be? Read on...

Event Dynamo Required (3 month contract) £25,000-£35,000 pro-rata

Chinwag is a community of people working in digital media and marketing, primarily in the UK, but increasingly across the world. Our small but busy team runs a whole heap of exciting events, websites and trade missions including Chinwag.comChinwag JobsChinwag Live, the Digital MissionsSocial Media Week London amongst others.

We're lucky enough to work with some of the most dynamic and exciting companies in digital media, from start-ups to FTSE 100 corporates and government departments. Our tag-line 'connecting digital people' encapsulates what we're about, and the aim of our work on the web, social media, email and our live events.

And that's where you come in...

We need someone special to help deliver a series of exciting events this Autumn. Initially, this will be a 3 month contract starting immediately, but if things go well, there's the opportunity for something more permanent.

The Job

This role is a crucial part of the team to deliver Chinwag's events and those that we produce for 3rd parties.

This might involve taking the outline of a concept, pulling together a programme of speakers, running a marketing plan, finding a venue, securing sponsors and making sure the event runs smoothly. Or, it might involve working with clients, freelancers and agencies to deliver one aspect of an event. Or it might involve calling, emailing and generally chasing two-dozen companies taking part in a trade mission.

You'll help define the event, the timeline, the goals and then take up the reigns to make sure the event is delivered on time, and on budget. Micromanagement isn't our style. You'll need to be motivated, organised, a self-starter with a heavy dollop of common sense. There's plenty of opportunity to make your mark, learn lots and get involved with exciting projects.

Most of the work will take place in Chinwag's office in Soho, but events can take place all over the UK and increasingly internationally. Chinwag is a very flexible employer, you can work from home and we don't operate fixed working hours, but you'll probably find the majority of your time will be spent in the office.

The Ideal Candidate...

You'll be familiar and comfortable with digital media and marketing, social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook) Gmail, Skype and online systems in general. A healthy interest in the digital media, digital marketing and start-ups is definitely a bonus.

Excellent written English is a must, as is a bright and breezy manner whether you're making phone calls, on Skype, answering emails or Tweeting. Keeping cool under tight deadlines and dealing with the occasional terse delegate is crucial. A cool head and quick, clear thinking is highly valued!

Successful events rely on getting the small details right. This will involve handling significant quantities of admin, dealing with designers, organising conference speakers, corralling delegates and liaising with venues as well as dealing with numerous suppliers and partners.

Enthusiasm, aptitude and attitude is more important than experience, although experience is a BIG plus. A couple of years running B2B events, especially in the sometimes quirky digital space, is ideal, but not a deal-breaker. Or, you might be working in digital marketing and want to both promote and deliver projects.

If you don't quite fit, but think you'd be ideal for the job, do get in touch, but bear in mind, you'll need to make a strong case why you're right for this role

Working at Chinwag

We're an exciting and amusing bunch to work with, and if you have a personal love of digital media you'll especially enjoy working here. Chinwag already has a very well known brand and user base within new media for you to work with, and has many connections and leads within most of the top digital agencies.

We also have a sizeable Soho roof terrace with pub benches that becomes our BBQ HQ in good weather, free Innocent smoothies, the best coffee known to man, and share an office with an abundance of great characters. There's also the occasional lunch outing to one of the many local eateries and we have been known to partake of the odd cupcake since the Hummingbird Bakery opened round the corner.
