Taylor James
Location: Shoreditch
Dates: Summer for 12 weeks starting in July
Details:
Taylor James’ CGI internship programme is underway and is taking applications from the next budding bunch of CGI graduates to join their forty-strong team on a three month course. Taylor James work with some of the world’s leading brands, including: British Airways, Coca-Cola, Amex and Heineken. A complete production studio who have created content for campaigns across digital, print and broadcast media for over a decade; Taylor James pride themselves on their core value of photo-realism which is carried out through all their work. This is transparent in their showreel presenting a selection of high-standard CGI work across both still and motion.
Interns will get an introduction to working in various areas of CGI production, from creating 3D layouts and CG animation, to scene-assembly, matte painting, compositing and live-action integration. The interns will devote the remainder of their time to a group project. The multi-disciplinary internship combines standard industry-based training in all areas of production and post-production, along with live project experience so applicants must have the right balance of technical ability, creative eye and attitude.
A previous intern of the 2010 programme, Panos Pallaris, formerly a student at Escape Studios, said: “We all felt the course was well structured and covered a wide range of disciplines from concept through to production and editing. A major plus was the fact the training material was based on projects previously undertaken by Taylor James. This gave us a measure of the quality of work produced and a benchmark to strive for, while learning about working practices in a production pipeline context.
There was a good balance between technique and creativity. The advanced module week and end of training group project gave us complete creative license to explore and implement everything we'd learned on our own projects.”

Contact: Applications should be sent to recruitmenttaylorjames [dot] com with ‘CGI Internship’ and should include CV and short relevant reel.

Belron International Ltd.
Location: Egham, Surrey
Dates: Flexible - but at least six weeks to allow for knowledge transfer to take place.
Details:
Who are Belron?
Belron is the worlds largest dedicated vehicle glass repair and replacement company. Belron® is home to 25,500 employees, all working together to bring the Belron® story to life. Our operations span 33 countries and five continents, making us a global business in every sense.
What do we do?
The team that we work in is called the eBusiness team. We look after the websites and the area that this placement concentrates on may include:
- Usability (we do this a LOT and use many techniques)
- Customer Insight (research into customers)
- Analytics (tracking behaviour online)
- Testing (we check 100s of mobile devices and browsers)
- A/B testing and Multivariate testing
The last is a very important part of our work. We have dedicated staff who test over 7 million things a month with our website visitors. Through this testing, we know what images, words, buttons and layouts work well for us. It makes life easier for customers and drives huge value in all our work. A focus would be given in this role to this area.
What is the role?
You'd be working with Craig Sullivan and Ed Colley, as part of our optimisation and testing programme.
This will involve brainstorming, designing, instrumenting and running controlled tests for us using our testing software. You'll get to try different pictures, videos, words and layouts - in order to find the one that drives online conversion. The benefit of this approach is you get to see what impact your work has on consumer behaviour - very rewarding.
We're an agile, professional but not stuffy team and we all work collaboratively on problems and share good work. Belron supports all our Business Units (countries) around the world and does so through sharing best practice on techniques that work. This means that we're used to advising people, not telling them, about good stuff - our authority lies in the quality of work that we do, not some organisational chart.
You'll get to learn about a/b and multivariate testing, use a lot of the rather cool software we have at our fingertips and get to see in real-time what's happening.
You should be open minded, naturally curious and interested in how people use products. You won't have to have a stats degree to work with us - good numeracy and a familiarity with excel will suffice.
We also expect that you are interested in web design, usability, web analytics or related disciplines and want to learn more about the cutting edge work we do in these areas. A familiarity with any wireframing or design software would be a plus, but is not essential.
You'll come out of this with practical, hands on experience and with knowledge gained from doing work yourself, as well as working with experienced optimisation experts.
We're based in stunning offices in Egham, Surrey. It's a wonderful building, surrounded by huge private grounds and woodland and you'll enjoy working there or eating outside when the weather is nice on the terrace. The wildlife, setting and facilities at the office only add to the role.
If you want to know more, please see the contact details below. I'll be able to fill in more details.
