SXSW Speakers: Update

SXSW BLOCKS

Hollywood hothouse MGM used to say it had 'more stars than there are in heaven'. We won't go that far, but the latest speakers at our March 8th SXSW masterclass, Doing Business in the USA, are stellar.

Just to mention a few: Harper Reed, Robert Scoble and Dragos Ilinca, read on to meet them all.

Harper Reed

Harper ReedHarper is an hacker/engineer who builds paradigm-shifting tech and leads others to do the same.

Harper loves using the enormity of the Internet to bring people together, whether as CTO of Obama for America, CTO at Threadless.com, or on his own projects.

Harper and his team created Dashboard, a site that connects volunteer teams and acts as an online component of the field office.

You can often find Harper playing with new technology, looking for something to hack, or enjoying life in Chicago with his amazing wife, Hiromi.

Robert Scoble

Robert ScobleRobert is a geek legend who has been building online communities since 1985. After he started his technology blog in 2000 his profile rocketed.

He worked at Microsoft as an evangelist and was one part of five who created their Channel9 video community.

Robert searches the globe to study world-changing start-ups. You can find his work on youtubeGoogle+Twitter, his blog, or the Small Teams, Big Impact, site of his current employer, Rackspace.

Dragos Ilinca

Dragos IlincaDragos is the cofounder of uberVU, a social audience insights service that won Seedcamp in 2008.

He has worked on building the uberVU business in London, UK and Cambridge, MA.

Dragos has a background in data-driven marketing and a BSc in Computer Science, a mix that allows him to deeply understand technology marketing.

He is an official mentor in many early stage startup accelerators, including Seedcamp, Ignite, Springboard and TechCity.

Gemma Craven

Gemma CravenGemma leads the Social@Ogilvy team in New York City as their New York Group Director.

She is focused on developing scalable social media and WOM strategies for clients such as IBM and IKEA.

Gemma also runs Social@Ogilvy New York. This team is focused on integrated social solutions that combine the disciplines that Ogilvy is known for – CRM, public relations, shopper marketing, advertising – and are rooted in what drives behavior.

Allan Rooney

Allan RooneyAllan founded Rooney, P.C. in 2007 with the aim of providing legal services in all aspects of business and commercial law.

He takes a special interest in assisting inbound clients with navigating the US incorporation process.

His company is equipped to serve as a full-service firm to international and domestic companies.

Emre Ozgu

Emre OzguEmre is counsel to Rooney P.C. and a partner at the law firm of Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP.

He brings more than 15 years of professional experience in all aspects of U.S.Immigration law related to permanent residence (“green cards”) through employment and family sponsorship, work visas and other immigration matters.

Emre can represent immigration clients in any jurisdiction across the United States.

Saidah Nash Carter

Saidah Nash CarterSaidah is Vice Presdent of Strategy and Business Innovation at Thomson Reuters Mobile, developing and refining mobile strategy and identifying mobile content business opportunities.

She joined the company in 1997, co-creating many of the syndicated news services that helped the brand thrive online.

Saidah believes in the value of corporate social responsibility and supports causes which make a positive impact on employees and the NYC community. She was recently appointed to the board of directors for Junior Achievement New York.

She speaks Mandarin Chinese and is recently married.
